The name's Yvonne, how do you do? Just a 20-something trying to get through life. Started with the intent of artistic endeavors but got sidetracked with reblogs. Lover of creative things, equality, Doctor Who and A:TLA. She'd love to hear from you!

Music binging: Keith Lancaster and The Acappella Company

I discovered them as I was listening to some old songs by Acappella and found Keith Lancaster’s YouTube channel. As soon as I heard 30 seconds of “Awesome God” on the tail-end of an unrelated video, I was hooked.

I love a cappella music and have ever since I was young, and it’s mainly because the human voice is such an amazing instrument. Though the style is very different between these guys (this a cappella choir thing), Acappella, and Pentatonix, they each demonstrate the depth and richness of the human tone. Though each of these styles and groups grant me on-going eargasms, choir a cappella arrangements make me feel… different. It awakens something deep in me that I can’t explain.

As I loop “I Stand In Awe of You”, I think about all the little things I want to tweak in the other songs they’ve recorded (like more dissonant harmonies and layers), and then I remember all the a cappella choir arrangements and compositions I started and never finished or never made public. I haven’t had extensive formal musical training, but I still love it. I would love to even work under Keith Lancaster as an unpaid intern or something just to learn and build upon it.… And I guess I just want a chance to make these arrangements and compositions “real”, to teach a choir how to sing it and it be performed. But I’m not sure if I can do that.

The One Thing by Paul Colman on Grooveshark

I’ve questioned my reasons
The life I’m living
I’ve questioned my ability
To judge wrong from right
I’ve questioned all the things that I’ve ever called certain
My race, my religion, my country, my mind

But the one thing I don’t question is You
You really love me like You say You do…
So hold me.
